The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has proclaimed the Democratic People's Party (PDP) Emeka Ihediohan  as Imo Governor's election winner. Professor Francis Otonta, INEC Returning officer, announced the final results at the Electoral Collection Center in Owerri, the capital of the state, on Tuesday, March 12, at the Nigerian News Agency (NAN). 



Former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Ihedioha won 11 out of 27 local administrative districts by voting a total of 273,404 votes to win the closest competitor, Uche Nwosu Action Alliance (AA), who won 10 LGAs and Other 70-man Imo Governorate riders. Ifeanyi Araraume, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), former Senator with 114,676 votes and won four LGAs. APC's Hope Uzodinma, a serving Senator, representing the Imo western region, acquired 96,458 votes and won the fourth place in two LGAs. Former Imon Governor, Accord Party Ikedi Ohakim, who asked 6,846 votes along the path with others, did not win in any Council area. A total of 739 474 votes were cast by 25.130 votes, which were rejected, while 714 344 votes were valid. Otonta, Executive Vice President of Agricultural University Michael Okpara, Umudike thanked INEC officials, political party representatives, security forces and journalists for their patriotic commitment to the national mission.

 “I thank patriotism and commitment to this national mission. "I assure you that Emeka Ihedioha, who has met all the requirements of the law and got the most votes, has won the election and will be returned," he said. 

At the same time, the Action Alliance (AA) candidate in the State of Imo, Ugwumba Nwosu, has rejected the victory of the Democratic Party (PDP) Emeka Ihedioha. 

In his statement to Vebose.com, Nwosu said that Ihedioha's victory was stolen and that the party leadership had asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to consider their position, hoping that it would do the same.
