Jay-Z performs two of the Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park on October 13, 2017 in Austin, Texas on the first day of the week.

Contemporary heavyweights such as Jay-Z and Chance the Rapper will lead this year's Woodstock Festival on the 50th anniversary of the legendary concert weekend, organizers announced on Tuesday.

Veteran acts playing the 1969 New York State Festival - a defining moment in pop culture history - are also scheduled for August 16-18, including Santana, John Fogerty, Country Joe McDonald, and Canned Heat.

The 2019 edition of Peace, Love and Music will encompass the genres and appeal to fans of the original weekend, where icons like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin cling to the pouring rain, as well as today's young concertgoers.

Michael Lang, an event organizer who helped shape the 1969 show, had promised an "eclectic law" that told Rolling Stone that Woodstock 50 wanted to be "cross-generational."

This three-day event, held in Watkins Glen, New York, is separated from the first weekend of the first festival, which is about 185 kilometers away.

Woodstock 50 offers a range from hip hop to country artists with more than 80 artists. The range is very diverse and includes a variety of different artists, including rapper Common, rocker The Black Keys, pop futurist Janelle Monae and folk-rock troubadour Brandi Carlile.

"We will see each other in August! I play on Friday, so I have time to party all weekend! "Tweeted pop star Miley Cyrus.

The 73-year-old Fogerty, frontman of the legendary rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, also tweeted his joy: "Come on my 50-year journey at Woodstock 50!"

"I was there 50 years ago in 1969 and I'm back to celebrate 3 days of peace, love and music."
