Senate President Bukola Saraki Plans Last Minute Shocker For Buhari And Tinubu

After Senate President Bukola Saraki has not returned to the Senate, he has reportedly taken steps to shock the All Progressives Congress (APC) by installing a candidate of his own choice to replace him as  Senate President in the same way he emerged.

Saraki in the run-up to the election of leaders in the red chambers in 2015 had resisted the party's desire to relinquish the position of deputy majority leader Ahmad Lawan.
While the party focused on Lawan and called on all members of the Senate to vote for him, Saraki backed the members of the Democratic People's Party (PDP), a party he formerly belonged to.
After breaking the APC rank, he won the seat against the wish of the party leadership.

Saraki should play the same card to make sure a member of his political family becomes Senate President.
At present, the PDP has elected 42 out of 109 elected senators.
Expecting that the PDP members will remain united, Saraki intends to break the APC's rank and encourage at least 14 of its members to back him up.

According to PUNCH, meetings are already taking place in the Maitama residence in Saraki to achieve this.

A source that affirmed against the paper said the Senate president had planned a comeback for the seat if he won the election.
With his inability to return to the Senate, he said he plans to start another person there.

The source said, "The group has presented plans" A "," B "and" C "that will prepare the horse trade that will shape the race for the position of Senate President.

"Plan A of the group is to sponsor one of them for the position of President of the Senate if two or more members of the APC Caucus present themselves for the Senate seat.

"If it becomes difficult for the group to activate the plan" A ", it was agreed to assist Senator Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe in the northeast), who was, according to the members of the group, more accessible; They believe they could win the position of Deputy Senate President with him.

"The plan of the group" C "in the event that the plans" A "and" B "fail, is to support Senator Ahmed Lawan, who he believes would not affect the interests of the group."

"We already have 42 selected senators. We only need 14 senators from the APC to disagree with the party's zoning order and set up their tents with the PDP.

"The APC can not afford to have two candidates for the position of Senate President. If this is the case, the PDP either takes over directly or by placing a friendly person there.

"Our meeting last week should ensure that we act in unity to strengthen our relevance in the Ninth Senate," another source familiar with the situation told PUNCH.
